Billions of dollars been given to certain groups and fell good projects, but nothing for the real day to day things that need doing in a modern country, or should I say a once modern country, just maybe the ones getting rocked out are the lucky ones?.

Yesterday, after being referred to the public health system by a specialist, my wife went into hospital for a pre-op assessment for an operable condition she has suffered from for over 5 years.

After 20 minutes of examination she was told that her condition was "not sufficiently advanced to meet the present criteria for surgery" and she should seek a review at a later date when the condition worsens.

Oh yes, the spin is well installed in the hospital system now and Labour is reducing waiting lists by adjusting the qualifying criteria. Watch them pat themselves on the back again.

It hits the NAIL ON THE HEAD ( pardon the pun ). But it is true in two ways. One the Minister of Health Andrew LITTLE BRAIN 🧠 HIDES everything under a rock. And doesn’t acknowledge the CRISIS !!!! And # Two. PEOPLE ARE DYING WHILE WAITING FOR TREATMENT

Health used to be a priority, but not anymore. Pity we couldn't return to the days when health, education and housing were at the top of the agenda instead of all these pie in the sky issues.

Andy Espersen writes:

Garrick Tremain is a great cartoonist. And this one is not his usual good-natured, humorous sort : This one really bites in a cynical, angry way - angry because the deterioration in our health services is caused mostly by the this Labour government's unethical, ideological, cynical legislation over the last 5 years - on Covid and on climate change. We are not alone in this - most of the Western civilisation are in the same boat; but with notable difference in degrees. New Zealand is one of the worst.

It is all self-inflicted - hence Tremain's frustrated fury. That's the way I read it.
